About Kelly Mooney

Kelly is a dedicated advocate for parents in education and a member of the Republican Women of Shelby County and is running to represent District 3 at the Alabama State Board of Education.

District 3 represents all or significant parts of Shelby, Jefferson, Montgomery, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore, and Talladega counties. Kelly Mooney, a long-time champion of quality education, looks forward to championing the interests of families, students, and teachers throughout the district.

Kelly brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role. As a mother of three and a grandmother of eleven, she understands the value of a strong education system in nurturing the next generation of leaders. For 15 years, she served as an administrator at Briarwood Christian School, working tirelessly to help parents and families secure the best education for their children. Mooney is dedicated to providing quality education and believes in empowering parents to play an active role in their children's educational journey.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Kelly Mooney stated, "I am eager to represent the families and children in District 3. The education of our children is of utmost importance, and I strongly believe parents must have the strongest voice in the room for their children's education. Our parents, families, students, schools, and teachers must be well-equipped and resourced to produce the best next-generation leaders. I am ready to bring my experience in education and as a mother to ensure this happens."

Kelly Mooney has been married to Rep. Arnold Mooney for over 41 years. Rep. Arnold Mooney represents State House District 43. With Kelly's unwavering commitment to education and a deep understanding of the issues facing Alabama's education system, she is well-prepared to take on the responsibilities of representing District 3 on the Alabama State Board of Education.

Kelly Mooney looks forward to connecting with the families in District 3 to earn their vote at the Republican Primary on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, and to understand their desires and needs as they raise their children and partner with the education system. Kelly is dedicated to building strong partnerships between parents, educators, and the community to ensure the best educational opportunities for all students in District 3 and the State of Alabama and ultimately ensuring parents have control of their children's education.
